1958 Facel Vega FV4 FVS Hemi Borranis
Chassis # 457251
Motor # TY5-562114
This car was imported by the Southern Californian franchise agent Hornburg and completed by the factory on the 24th
of September 1957. The body/production number is the 246th built since Facel began to produce the 8 cyl. coupés.
These cars were incredibly expensive when new.
The FV4 was the ultimate FVS-Series car before the model was replaced outright by the HK500. This FVS series car
carries the chassis number FV4 57-251. The engine number TY5-562114 provides matching numbers to a “Typhoon”
340bhp 354 cubic inch Chrysler Hemi V-8 just as Chrysler used in the 300B letter series with solid lifters and
double 4 barrel Carter WCFB carbs. It has the correct style 2 speed Chrysler Powerflite automatic gearbox, power
steering, power drum brakes, and comes with the five correct Rudge wire wheels with knock off spinners. This
vehicle features a white paint exterior. It was originally silver grey metallic with opulent black leather interior
completed with tinted glass. The original interior is remarkably intact.
This particular model is one of the rarest out of all the FVS’s being one of the lowest production numbers
manufactured and the last year this model was produced. This car belongs to the first series FV4. This particular
vehicle is 1 of only 37 produced and very few are left in the world. The entire car needs restoration, but is
largely correct and complete. Virtually all the original parts are intact, including the tool tray. The car was
recently serviced, including the carburetors being rebuilt and it started right up immediately with remote fuel. It
has strong oil pressure and doesn’t smoke, even after a year of sitting. Please look at the video attached. Since
we had the intake off, we cleaned it up and painted it. Obviously the rest of the engine compartment needs detailed
and serviced. The car though needs a complete restoration is complete from my inspection. It is very sound
underneath. There is some rust at the extreme sides of the under carriage but the floors and frame are all solid as
seen in the photos and it is a great platform to start from. The doors shut well and the bonnet needs some
adjustment.
The subject example was part of a small collection of an exotic car aficionado. The good doctor had in his stable
another Facel- the coveted Facel II, as well as another period Maserati.
